Spoon to Alaska!

I just shipped my first carved cherry spoon to Alaska! It’s going way up north, to Fairbanks.  The customer who ordered it also bought a nice lilac and cherry spatula at the Vermont Fine Furniture and Woodworking Festival a couple weekends ago.  The lilac came from a 135 year old lilac bush in my back yard that had to be pruned.  She ordered a nice spoon too – a double twist handle in FSC certified sustainably harvested cherry.  Here’s a few photos of it below.

These spoons have nice large, deep scoops.  Great for serving, they are fun to take to potlucks. Unique, original, sculptural.  Functional art for your kitchen.  Buy them here.

In 2006, my carved spoons and spatulas won a first place award for custom woodenware in the Vermont Fine Furniture & Wood Products Design Competition.

      Hi Allison,
Wow, that’s so cool it’s going to New Zealand! Thanks for letting me know, and thanks so much for purchasing the spoon at the show! Of all the spoons I made for that show, the one you bought was my favorite, because of the way the grain of that particular piece of wood worked with the form of the spoon and the twist handle. So it’s great to know it is going on a long journey to be given as a special gift. Happy travels!
