Carved Walnut Chest of Drawers Featured in Fine Woodworking Magazine
My Chest of Drawers in carved walnut and ash is featured in the April 2013 issue of Fine Woodworking magazine, which just came out. It is a one of a kind piece, contemporary and sculptural.

This chest of drawers has a carved walnut exterior with integral carved drawer pulls, ash drawer boxes with hand cut dovetails, traditional Danish-style wooden drawer slides, mitered carcass construction with mortise and tenon joinery (90 degree finger-jointed tenons), and a book-matched solid walnut frame-and-panel back. The finish is hand rubbed Danish oil. 42″ high x 26 .5″ wide x 19″ deep.
This chest won the First Place Award for Custom Studio Furniture in the 2012 Vermont Fine Furniture and Wood Products Design Competition.
And here’s more photos I shot of the chest:
My Work has also been featured in Fine Woodworking magazine three other times, including a special issue titled “Furniture: 102 Contemporary Designs”, published in 2008, and also in their Design Book Eight, published in 2009, which featured my Writing Desk. Here are those features below:

My carved cherry Wine Cabinet was featured in the June 2006 issue:
And my carved wood cooking utensils in a variety of unusual woods were featured in the February 2007 issue:
Fine Woodworking editor Asa Christiana made this comment (to the Herald of Randolph newspaper) about my utensils: “We focus mostly on furniture-making in ‘Fine Woodworking.’ When it comes to other wood crafts—bowls, boats, utensils—we can make room for only the very best examples, items with a special twist. These have it, literally.”
My carved wood spatulas and cherry spoons won a First Place Award in the 2006 Vermont Fine Furniture and Wood Products Design Competition.
